Vinod Kambli Responds to Viral Video
Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli has addressed a viral video that recently circulated on social media, showing him appearing disoriented and struggling to walk. The 52-year-old was seen getting off a bike in Mumbai, where bystanders had to assist him in standing upright. The footage sparked widespread concern among fans and followers, who quickly took to social media to express their worries about Kambli’s well-being. Some even reached out to his longtime friend and cricket legend, Sachin Tendulkar, urging him to check on Kambli.
Kambli Assures Fans of His Health and Readiness to Play Cricket
In response to the video, Kambli clarified that he is fine and ready to return to cricket if the opportunity arises. In a follow-up video, the former cricketer confidently stated, “I’m good, Marcus. By the grace of God, I am surviving. Fit and fine. Yes, (I can go to the pitch and bat). (Would bat at) number three. I’ll hit (spinners) out of the ground.” Kambli, who played 17 Tests and 104 ODIs for India, has previously dealt with significant health issues, including a cardiac arrest in 2013 and angioplasty in 2012.
Marcus, a first-class umpire and Kambli’s childhood friend, later reassured everyone that Kambli is in good health. He explained that Kambli was in high spirits when they met and was recovering well. Marcus dismissed the viral video as outdated, pointing out that Kambli no longer has belly fat and is eating well. He also noted that Kambli’s entire family was present, enjoying time together, which further indicates that Kambli is doing well.
It’s important to note that Kambli last represented India in 2000, but continued to play domestic cricket until he announced his retirement from all forms of the game in 2011. Despite his health struggles, Kambli’s recent statements suggest he still feels connected to the sport and is maintaining his fitness, ready to take on challenges should they come his way.
